WOOD ALTERNATIVES

Technologies are continuing to improve the production of non-wood products for cabinetry.
Laminated wood veneer products are a thin layer of real wood over plywood or other wood-based core.

Plastic laminated products (AKA P-lam) are generally applied to a plywood or other wood-based core with a volatile contact adhesive.

Composites are made from plastics-based materials and can either be solid or applied over a wood-based core.

Acrylics are a solid material made from a resin with uniquely translucent properties.

Extrusions are polymer-based plastics that can be heat formed to meet a variety of structural shapes.

Most of these products are associated with more contemporary designs as they are generally produced in square and smooth pieces. We recommend applying to European style cabinet box construction.
